Participate in a Study

Cortical malformations are commonly caused by a mutation or deletion of a specific gene. Several new genes and new mutations of known genes for disorders of cortical formation have been mapped, yet many remain.  By participating in genetic studies, you can help researchers better understand the cause of these disorders.

To search for current genetic studies, click on GeneTests. You can search by specific genes (i.e. LIS1, DCX), by protein (i.e. tubulin, reelin) or by “disease” (i.e. polymicrogyria, Miller-Dieker). GeneTests will then provide a list of studies and related resources.
